Senior Linux Administrator

Roles and Responsibilities

  1. Infrastructure Support
    a. Complete Linux OS administration, Troubleshooting & Maintenance.
    b. Storage (SAN/NAS/DAS/Cloud Storage) administration and provisioning.
    c. Server provisioning and administration.
    d. Backup administration (Monitoring/Backup/Restoration).
    e. Patch Administration.
    f. Server-side Vulnerability management.
  2. Responsible for managing Linux team size of 3 Sr Linux engineers
  3. Responsible for understanding customers requirements, solution, preparing BoM, drafting activity plan and owning technical project execution till closure.
  4. Be an ultimate point of escalation for all Linux-related issues.
  5. To provide a 3rd line on-call support for the Linux and to the 24/7 team as required
  6. Sharing monthly report to the manager on overall team health status

Skills and Experience

  • Extensive technical knowledge and experience in managing and maintaining large-scale, highly available, Linux (Redhat, CentOS, Ubuntu) compute infrastructure.
  • Extensive experience troubleshooting Linux-related issues.
  • Experience with a broad range of open-source applications.
  • Experience with automation using scripts / Ansible/puppet (Minimum one).
  • Good understanding of AWS and Azure platform administration and services and troubleshooting.
  • Experience in working with virtualization and P-V / V-V / P-P migrations.
  • Ability to think strategically and evaluate options in the short, medium, and long term.
  • Ability to cope in a technically complex and fast-changing environment, and to respond calmly and rationally to changing aspirations in a deadline-driven situation.
  • Strong planning and organizing skills including the ability to manage several workstreams simultaneously.
  • Excellent communication skills with a capacity to present, discuss and explain issues coherently and logically both in writing and verbally.
  • Good influencing skills with the ability to enthuse and inspire multidisciplinary teams and build successful relationships at all levels.
  • Clear decision-making ability with the facility to judge complex situations and assess when to escalate issues.
  • Ability to balance conflicting and changing demands through prioritization and a pragmatic approach.
  • Good team player, self-motivated, and able to work on own initiative.
  • Over Six years of experience is preferred.
